I have been playing soccer since the age of 5.  I played all through school both on traveling tournament teams and recreational.  When soccer became a UIL sport in 1990, I played for Tascosa High school both as a Keeper and Midfielder. When I was in the USMCR, I made and played with 4th Marine Division goodwill soccer team.  I had to step down due to a high ankle sprang and that ended my playing days.  I have been coaching soccer since 1997.  Starting as a recreational coach for my oldest daughter and have never left coaching.  I have coached competitive soccer since 2007 for all competitive soccer teams in the Amarillo area including the now defunct Canyon Soccer Club.

My philosophy in playing great soccer is “value that soccer is a sport, we should never lose the knowledge that this game is fun.  Coach with passion and be positive.”  I believe a coach can be a very positive influence in a young person's life.  Coaches must stress teamwork, responsibility, initiative, discipline, and a strong work ethic.  Each player on the team is an essential part of a team and it is my responsibility to nurture this in order to build a strong bond.  I believe the best way to coach is by having player's understand technical ball control with tactical development. These are the top priority in training.  Players must be constantly challenged to achieve individual and team goals, while realizing that playing selflessly will build the heart and soul of a great player and future adult.

David "SoccerDave" Balyeat

I was born in Dallas but had the blessing of growing up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There I grew a passion and talent for soccer. As my talent and skill progressed, opportunities began to come. I played one college season at Mississippi College, and three seasons at Dallas Baptist University. Also blessed to have played professionally in Bolivia (2nd division 2 seasons) and Spain (3rd division 1 season). I now dedicate my gifts, talents, and passions to guide the next generation of athletes. The physical, technical, mental, and spiritual aspects of soccer I believe are applicable to life as well. And that is the approach I take when I have the opportunity to invest in a player.
